LALPT Beginner's Guide

What is the LALPT system?

LALPT system is an Internet application designed to support the LAL proficiency testing process.

Who are the LALPT users and what are their LALPT roles?

The LALPT users are the persons registered in the LALPT system.

A LALPT role determines a set of available functions and data for users. The available LALPT role types are: analyst, institute supervisor, supplier supervisor, and administrator.

When a user plays a role, then he/she accesses the functions and data corresponding to that role. For example, playing an analyst role one can register corresponding test results. In this role, he/she can access his/her own data, but, for example, cannot register a new analyst, because this function corresponds to the institute supervisor role only.

Typically, LALPT users are authorized to play certain particular roles, e.g. a testing analyst or the supervisor of a testing institute.

There is no separated registration process of LALPT users. Instead, a new user is typically registered when he/she assigned to a role first time. However, a registered user can be assigned to more roles later, e.g. one can be an institute supervisor and an analyst representing user in the same time.

Note that LALPT administrators are able to create, modify, or delete users any time, with no respect to the roles.

About LALPT test suppliers

LALPT suppliers are the source of the test samples. They register their available services, which can be ordered for analysts by institute supervisors.

Each supplier is represented by a user, called the supervisor of that supplier, who has the right to access and manage the corresponding data.

About LALPT testing institutes

LALPT institutes provide the environment and resources for testing. They can register, disable, or enable their own analyst. Moreover, institutes receive the samples and distribute them to analysts.

Each institute is represented by a user, called the supervisor of that institute, who has the right to access and manage the corresponding data.

About LALPT testing analysts

Testing analysts get samples and register measuring results. These results are evaluated by LALPT administrators, with respect to the evaluation data provided by the suppliers of the samples.

Each analyst is represented by a user, who has the right to access and manage the corresponding data.

To become to a registered LALPT analyst, please contact the LALPT supervisor of your institute. However, if your institute is not a registered LALPT testing institute yet, then it should done before!

About LALPT administrators

LALPT administrators are the regulators, the supervisors, and the servers of the LALPT system. For example, an administrator can enable, disable, or delete a user, evaluate testing results and so on. Playing a special superior role, they use a separated, even more safe interface to access their designated functions.

However, even the administrators are supervised and their actions are traced rigorously in the LALPT system. So don't worry about the abuse of their position.
